Big Bend

There is a famous hairpin turn along the Icefields Parkway just before the entrance to Canada’s Jasper National Park. It’s appropriately named “Big Bend.” Just how big is the bend? Take a look at how tiny the highway is in the bottom lefthand corner of the frame. Make the hairpin turn and you begin climbing … wait for it … Big Hill. If you time it right (and aren’t afraid to drive through much of Jasper in the dark) the fading daylight on a late Summer evening creates a palette of color you have to see to believe.
